Project name: Gossypium barbadense
Description: This study compares two cotton species (the domesticated diploid G. arboreum and the wild-type tetraploid G. barbadense) that have been described as having a tolerance to Rotylenchulus reniformis (reniform nematode) to two susceptible domesticated tetraploid species (G. hirsutum cv. 1218 and G. hirsutum cv. Coker). The purpose of the project was to identify genes or markers for genes that were recognized as being associated with defense or resistance mechanisms in the plants in the study as well as closely related plant species.
