Project name: Schrenkiella parvula
Description: Eutrema parvulum, also called Thellungiella parvula, is one of several extremophile relatives of Arabidopsis, is notable for its tolerance to high salinity, freezing temperatures, water deficit and resource-poor environments. Under saline conditions, for example, its LD50 in NaCl is 600 mM for mature plants; below that, while Na+ gradually accumulates, K+ levels are maintained. With a small nuclear genome of ~140Mb in 7 chromosomes (N), Eutrema parvulum represents an extremophile model species.
