Project name: Toxoplasma gondii CAST

Description: New research on Toxoplasma gondii has revealed that there is more genetic variation than previously expected in lineages from North America and Europe. The population structure is strongly subdivided by geographic region and by the existence of clonal lineages in some regions into 12 major lineages. The T. gondii CAST strain will be sequenced as the reference strain for one of these 12 main lineages.
