Project name: Transcriptome analysis of banana (Musa acuminata) in response to low-nitrogen stress
Description: Nitrogen (N) is an abundant and essential macronutrient for plants growth and development processes, especially for the huge banana trees with high biomass. In this paper, we studied the response of banana resists to low N stress ueing Illumina RNA-Seq technology, and analyzed the DEGs associated with the absorption, transport, and ulitilize of nitrogen.Overall design: Using low-nitrogen culture solution (low nitrogen group, LN) treated banana plants, constracted with the normal group adopted Hoagland complete culture solution (control group, CK). In the natural conduction of Hainan province, Banana plants were fixed with clean sands and put into growth chamber with a temperature 28-35°C. The normal group (CK) and treated group (LN) materials were collected separately after 60 days treatment. Each group of plants were divided into an aboveground part (leaves and pseudo-stems) and an underground part (roots),resulting in four different types of sample: normal -nitrogen leaves (CL), normal - nitrogen roots (CR),low - nitrogen leaves (NL) and low - nitrogen roots (NR). Part of these plant tissues were frozen in liquid nitrogen immediately and kept at -80 °C refrigerator for storage.
