Ornithobacterium cells are gram-negative, nonmotile, nonsporulating, short, plump rods with chemoorganotrophic, mesophilic metabolism. Strains have been isolated from various bird species and most were associated with infections such as tracheitis, sinusitis, pneumonia, etc.
