Description: A transcriptome project for the tobacco budworm Heliothis virescens has been performed by several USDA-ARS entomologists. Sanger reads from cDNA libraries are available in the nucleotide EST database. Illumina sequencing of additional transcripts is underway.RNA was prepared from eggs, larvae of various stages, pupae, adults (males and females); midguts, nervous tissue, hemocytes, fat bodies, pheromone glands; immune-stimulated hemocytes and fat bodies; and after Bt intoxication.
