Project name: Mesomycoplasma hyorhinis
Description: Mycoplasma hyorhinis. Infection with mycoplasma is a common problem in cell cultures, with Mycoplasma hyorhinis being the predominant species. Many strains of Mycoplasma hyorhinis from infected cell cultures have cultivar alpha phenotype and cannot be cultivated on conventional mycoplasma media. Their detection and identification require use of indicator mammalian cell cultures (Vero, MDCK, MDBK, BHK-21, 3T-6), bisbenzamide (Hoechst 33258) stain and fluoresceinated anti-Mycoplasma hyorhinis antibodies to detect these strains.
