Project name: Parvimonas micra
Description: Peptostreptococcus.Peptostreptococcus are part of the normal flora of human mucocutaneous surfaces, including the mouth, intestinal tract, vagina, urethra, and skin. They are isolated with high frequency from all specimen sources. Many of these infections are synergistic.Parvimonas micra.Parvimonas micra, formerly Peptostreptococcus micros, is a member of normal microbial flora of the human mouth and gastrointestinal tract. In one comprehensive 16S rDNA sequence-based enumeration of the colonic microbiota of three healthy adult humans it represents, on average, 0.042% of all 16S rDNA sequences and 0.083% of the sequences in its division (Eckburg et. al. (2005)). This organism has also been isolated from lung and abdominal infections and skin and soft tissue abscesses.
