Description: Pongamia pinnata (syn. Millettia pinnata) is a deciduous, leguminous tree that is native to humid and sub-tropic environments. It is drought tolerant and grows well in poor soil conditions. The seeds are rich in oil which has traditionally been used as illuminant in lamps and for soap making. It is currently being explored as a source of biofuel.
