Project name: Beauveria bassiana
Description: The Beauveria bassiana (teleomorph: Cordyceps bassiana) is a entomopathogenic filamentous fungus that parasitizes on a wide range of arthropod species. Fungi are recognized as important ecological agents in regulating insect populations. The species shows promise for control of insects and other arthropods such as disease vectors (mosquitoes and ticks), crop pests (whiteflies, caterpillars, grasshoppers, borers) and also ecologically hazardous pests (fire ants, termites). Beauveria bassiana genome consists of 7-8 chromosomes and is approximately 34-44 Mb.
Relevance: Agricultural
