Description: The purpose of this study was to perform comparative gene expression analysis of C. sakazakii ATCC BAA-894 grown in the presence of cultured human colonic adenocarcinoma cell line HCT-8, relative to growth in the absence of the cell line, using high-throughput sequencing. The results will improve the understanding of the epidemiology of Cronobacter spp. and help elucidate the potential mechanism responsible for dissemination and colonization of host cells, which will be useful for further developing therapeutics to prevent infections from this in gastro-intestinal tracts.
