Description: In this study, we performed de novo transcriptome sequencing of Agapanthus praecox using Illumina HiSeqTM 2000 platform. The coverage of the transcriptome was 4.77 Gb of clean nucleotides, over 53,075,520 clean sequencing reads were collected and assembled into 3200,651 cDNA contigs and 71,258 unigenes. Annotation and gene ontology analysis were then performed on these contigs. This dataset will serve as a public information platform for gene expression, genomics, and functional genomics in Agapanthus praecox. The assembled and annotated transcriptome sequences will provide a valuable resource for identifying genes expressed and future genetic and genomic research in the Agapanthus and closely related species.
