Description: Genome sequencing of a phylogenetically and ecologically diverse suite of saprotrophic Agaricomycotina (Basidiomycota), which include the major concentration of wood decay Fungi. Analyses of these genomes will provide insight into the diversity of fungal biology, especially mechanisms for decay of lignocellulose, and will illuminate the evolution and ecology of wood decay communities and their processes for carbon cycling and sequestration.
