Project name: Aeromonas hydrophila ML09-119
Description: Motile aeromonads are a group of loosely associated species within the genus Aeromonas that have similar biochemistry, genetics, and serology. A. hydrophila was the first motile aeromonad species named; in addition to causing fish disease, this species can be associated with opportunistic human infections. Strain ML09-119 is an isolate from a disease outbreak on a commercial catfish farm, and it is representative of a clonal group of A. hydrophila isolates that have been causing large-scale disease outbreaks in Alabama and Mississippi since 2009.
