Project name: Acinetobacter phage vB_AbaM-IME-AB2
Description: To provide new strategy and experimental evidence for controlling multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (MDR-AB) infection, we isolated a novel, lytic bacteriophage(named IME-AB2) and investigated its biological and genomic characteristics. To characterize the phage, its host range, optimal multiplicity of infection (MOI), adsorption rate, as well as one-step growth curve were analyzed. The structural proteins of phages were examined by SDS-PAGE electrophoresis. The extracted genomes of phages were digested with restriction enzymes and were subjected to high-throughput sequencing. The present study provides basic information about this phage which enhances the understanding of Acinetobacter baumannii phages and may benefit future phage therapy studies of MDR-AB infection.
