Project name: Pseudomonas putida MTCC 5279
Description: To provide genomic basis for the plant growth promoting activity of Pseudomonas species. An abiotic stress tolerant plant growth promoting rhizobacterium, named Pseudomonas putida MTCC5279 was isolated from the roots of field grown chickpea (Cicer arietinum L. cv. Radhey) in a rain-fed area of Dholpur, Rajasthan, India. Our experiments have found that Pseudomonas putida MTCC5279 could tolerate PEG and NaCl upto 60% and 500 mM respectively, produced Auxin, 70.23 µg ml-1, displayed phosphate solubilization ability using insoluble tri-calcium phosphate (TCP) and promotes plant growth. Therefore, sequencing of this strain is tried to find and determine the genes and pathways, to compare its genome sequence with other strains and find its special characteristics.
