Description: The seeds of S. nigrum (Sn) were sown under sterile conditions in Petri dishes that contained MS medium and were solidified with 0.8% (w/v) agar. Seven-day-old seedlings were transferred into Hoagland solution and were grown in a sterilized, pathogen-free greenhouse. The cultures were maintained at 22-25°C under a 16-h photoperiod. The treatment with 50 µM CdCl2 was applied to four-week-old seedlings that were grown in Hoagland solution for 24 h.
