Description: Low levels of RFLP within each of the gene pools of common bean can be circumvented by developing a mapping population from an inter-gene pool cross. This project creates the mapping population and generates a linkage map using the population. The BC1 mapping population is produced from 'XR-235-1-1' x ('XR-235-1-1' x 'Calima'). 'XR-235-1-1' is from the Mesoamerican gene pool. 'Calima' is from the Andean gene pool. The RFLP probes were isolated from a library of PstI-digested Phaseolus vulgaris genomic DNA.
