Project name: Natronomonas pharaonis DSM 2160
Description: Natronomonas pharaonis strain DSM 2160. This strain (DSM 2160; Gabara) is the type strain for the species and was isolated from Lake Gabara in Egypt (Soliman and Truper 1982, Zbl. Bakt. Hyg., I. Abt. Orig. C 3, 318-329). Sequence analysis indicates that this organism harbors a large haloarchaeal plasmid (PL131) and a multicopy plasmid (PL23) that is also found integrated into the chromosome.
