Description: The house mosquito Culex quinquefasciatus is the most common pest mosquito, inhabiting all continents except Antarctica. Although wild birds are considered the main host of Culex quinquefasciatus, the mosquitos also feed on mammals including humans. It is a carrier for both Saint Louis encephalitis and West Nile Virus.
