Project name: Ambystoma mexicanum
Description: The neotenic salamander Ambystoma mexicanum, also known as the Mexican axolotl, does not undergo metamorphosis from a larval stage to an adult stage. It is closely related to Ambystoma tigrinum tigrinum which does undergo metamorphosis. Ambystoma mexicanum is used as a model organism to study developmental and regenerative biology.
