Description: The genome of the specimen CBS 1513 (heterotypic synonym of Saccharomyces pastorianus) was determined to be a allotriploid and the result of two independent hybridization events by a fusion of 1n S. cerevisiae with 2n S. eubayanus. This yeast is a group I lager yeast and is better adapted to cold growth conditions than group II/Frohberg-type lager yeasts which came about by a fusion of 2n S. cerevisiae and S. eubayanus.
