Description: Chlorobium phaeobacteroides.This species contains several carotenoids, predominated by isorenieratene and beta-isorenieratene. These are necessary for light harvesting and photoprotection, which are important functions in photosynthesis. This species demonstrates a novel type of carotenoid-mediated photoadaptation induced by the change of theta-end and beta-end carotenoid groups, under various light intensities.
