Description: Chloroplast genome of S. officinarum has been sequenced at the National Institute of Agrobiological Sciences, Japan. It is 141,182 bp in size. Genome analysis indicate that the S. officinarum chloroplast genome when compared to the chloroplast genomes of other grasses showed similarity to maize but not to rice or wheat genome.
