Project name: Populus trichocarpa isolate:Nisqually-1
Description: Joint Genome Institute of US Department of Energy is sequencing the genome of Populus trichocarpa clone 'Nisqually-1' by whole-genome shotgun method. The WGS project has been deposited in GenBank and has the project accession AARH00000000. It consists of sequences AARH01000001-AARH01041827.The assembly was constructed with the JGI assembler, JAZZ, using paired end sequencing reads at a coverage of 7.5X. Sequencing and annotation has been a collabrative effort involving DOE Joint Genome Institute (JGI), DOE Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Genome Canada, Umea Plant Science Centre (Sweden), and Ghent University (Belgium). It is the first tree genome to be sequenced and the third higher plant sequenced by public funding.JGI has also sequenced the poplar chloroplast genome. The complete genome sequence has the accession EF489041.
