They live in shallow regions and feed on shrimp, mollusks and small crabs.The Albula glossodonta mitochondrial genome was sequenced by the University of Tokyo to study the phylogenetic relationships between a number of different fish species to identify the evolutionary origin of the leptocephalus larva.
