Description: Genome sequencing of Leucocoprinus gongylophorus, the fungal symbiont of attine ants (fungus-farming leaf cutter ants). The fungus is assumed to rely on transmission of the asexual stage (via the ants) rather than sexual reproduction. The mycelium may be poly-karyonic. Possibly because of this, the genome sequences are difficult to assemble.
