Project name: Identification_of_driver_mutations_in_DMBA_induced_mouse_mammary_tumours
Description: DMBA induced tumourigenesis has been used extensively for the last 50 years to assay for spontaneous mammary tumour initiation in the mouse and rat. Tumour latency with the DMBA protocol tends to be around 16weeks from point of DMBA administration, which makes it a relatively quick model for breast cancer. To date limited attempts have been made to identify the repertoire of mutations induced by DMBA. With the advent of Exome sequencing technology we would like to comprehensively catalogue the mutations caused by DMBA mutagenesis. This might lead to the identification of novel driver mutations or even validate mutations found in human breast cancer patients. We intend to sequence DMBA induced tumours from C57/B6 and NOD-SCID mouse backgrounds. Initially, this will be a small pilot experiment (12 samples) to ascertain the extent to which the Exomes of these tumours are mutated. In the future we plan to expand this project to a larger and broader set of DMBA induced tumours. This data is part of a pre-publication release.
