Project name: Plasmodium_berghei_diversity_and_history___whole_genome_sequencing_of_phenotypically_diverse_laboratory_lines
Description: Plasmodium berghei is a malaria parasite infecting rodents and an important model for studies into the basic biology of malaria parasites infecting humans. By sequencing a panel of laboratory lines and clones, this project will generate a community resource of the genomic diversity in P. berghei. We will analyse the history of the most widely used laboratory lines, which is currently the source of some confusion in the community. The data will provide the basis for linking genetic and phenotypic variation by generating lists of candidate genes for future validation. It will further generate reference sequences for the analysis of genetic crosses. This data is part of a pre-publication release. For information on the proper use of pre-publication data shared by the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute (including details of any publication moratoria), please see http://www.sanger.ac.uk/datasharing/
