Description: It is currently well accepted in the Leishmania research community that sexual recombination occurs between promastigotes in the insect vector. Little data is available on the few hybrid parasites known from the field, so we aim to generate genomic sequence data from a number of different natural hybrid lines and from lines likely to be closely related to their parents, to investigate the evolutionary dynamics and confirm the mechanism of genetic exchange in Leishmania. This data is part of a pre-publication release.
