Project name: Whole genome sequencing of Plasmodium knowlesi Nuri
Description: Plasmodium knowlesi Nuri strain was isolated in 1952 from a naturally infected M. fascicularis monkey in the Nuri Valley near Tampin ( Malaysia). It has been passaged by blood stage infection through an unknown number of rhesus monkeys to arrive at the stocks held by Dr Clemens Kocken at BPRC. This strain does not form gametocytes anymore and it sequesters much less than the sequenced H-strain in monkeys. Illumina sequencing will be used to produce an assembled genome for comparative genomics.. This data is part of a pre-publication release.
