Project name: Mesorhizobium sp. STM 4661

Description: Mesorhizobium metallidurans STM 2683 and Mesorhizobium sp. STM 4661 are two metal-tolerant rhizobial strains isolated from Anthyllis vulneraria, a metallicolous legume species growing in Zn-Pb mines (France). The sequencing project of these two Anthyllis symbionts aims to identify key functions involved in metal adaptation and Anthyllis symbiosis. Efficient nitrogen-fixing and metal tolerant rhizobia use improves phytostabilization in highly contaminated sites thus limiting environmental pollution through heavy metal dispersion.
