Project name: Symbiodinium kawagutii strain:CCMP2468
Description: The phototrophic dinoflagellates are one of the most important primary producers, of which the symbiotic genus Symbiodinium is essential to the growth of reef-building corals. Dinoflagellates are also most important contributors of the environmentally and economically devastating harmful algal blooms and biotoxins in the marine ecosystem. Here, we sequenced the genome of coral-endosymbiont Symbiodinium kawagutii, achieving a high-quality assembly of 935 Mb. We annotated 36,850 protein-coding genes including 1,785 S. kawagutii-specific gene families verified by transcriptome data.
