Project name: Anser cygnoides domesticus breed:Zhedong
Description: Goose (Anser cygnoides) is one of the oldest poultry that has undergone a long domesticated history, and possesses some special biological characteristics such as fast-growing, disease resistance, rough feeding resistance and high capacity for fatty liver production. In order to reveal the molecular basis of these special characteristics of goose, we sequenced and analyzed the genome of goose. This research can enhance the discovery of genetic variations underlying economically important quantitative traits. Moreover, relevant findings on geese disease resistance and hepatic lipid metabolism may have important implications for understanding waterfowl unique immune or disease-resistant mechanisms, as well as research on human liver lipid metabolism related diseases.
