Project name: The genomic landscape of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum BGI-N6: probiotic traits and potential applications in skin health
Description: With increasing attention to skin health, research has shifted from plant extracts to probiotics. Lactiplantibacillus plantarum BGI-N6 shows significant potential in skin health. This study explores its probiotic properties through complete genome analysis and in vitro experiments. The BGI-N6 genome spans 3,257,641 bases with a 45% GC content and 3,030 CDSs. The carbon source fermentation, gastrointestinal tolerance, and environmental adaptability provide a basis for colonization in skin and gut. Additionally, the skin-beneficial properties of BGI-N6 stem from antioxidant and enzyme inhibition capabilities, involving the glutathione system, thioredoxins/thioredoxin peroxidase, NADH peroxidase, and catalase. Additionally, organic acids like L-(+)-lactic acid and phenyllactic acid may play roles in antioxidant and enzyme inhibition. Further, in vitro experiments confirm its antioxidant capacity and enzyme inhibition capabilities. In conclusion, BGI-N6 improves skin conditions through antioxidant stress and enzyme inhibition, with potential in skincare development and dermatological adjuvant therapy.
