Description: Combining molecular evidence from partially conserved chloroplast genes and nuclear genes, along with external morphological differences among Heliconia species, the classification and delineation within the genus Heliconiaceae are currently well-established. However, further evidence is needed to elucidate the evolutionary relationships among plants under the Zingiberales tribe. To enhance our understanding of taxonomy and phylogeny, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the complete chloroplast genomes of three widely cultivated species, Heliconia bihai, Heliconia caribeae, Heliconia tuotorsa. This comparison extends to the entire Zingiberales, aiming to gain deeper insights into the evolution and diversification of species within this taxonomic group
