Abstract
Acid-base changes during hemodialysis cannot be calculated solely from the balance of acetate and bicarbonate. Organic acid losses strongly influence acid-base balance during hemodialysis. Changes in organic acid concentrations might alter acid-base balance in hemodialysis patients.
