Abstract
Media and conditions for cultivation of type and reference strains of the mycoplasmas presently known (except M. bovigenitalium, A. laidlawii and Ureaplasma strains) to occur in dogs are described. The colonial morphology, ultrastructure, filterability and absence of reversion confirmed that the strains belong to the order of Mycoplasmatales. All strains were cholesterol dependent and therefore of the family Mycoplasmataceae, genus Mycoplasma. Finally the most useful biochemical characteristics are specified.
