Abstract
The basis for compensation of industrial hearing loss in the Province of Ontario is described, and contrasted with schemes utilized in other parts of Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and the United States. Changes are suggested for the method used to derive the percentage of permanent disability related to hearing loss. A randomly selected population of claimants for industrial hearing loss have been used to model the economic effect of such changes, which are discussed.
